Wait! What? Are we crushing over start-ups? Yes. Why not? We keep following start-ups and entrepreneurs and are always interested in knowing what they’re up to. Then we pick up the interesting chunks and report them to you. That’s our job. So, don’t get confused if we say we’re going to talk about LA Startups we’re crushing over these days.
What’s in this post? We’re going to tell you about some LA start-ups which we think are pretty cool.

Service.com
Another start-up to give some competition to Angie’s List! From what we hear, they aren’t making much profit anyways so start-ups can conquer the area. This startup – Service.com connects you with service providers. You can use their site to locate service providers in the area, chat with them, hire them and then pay via the website itself. Unlike Angie’s List, they don’t have any membership fee. From what we hear, their outsourced consumer service is impeccable and at the same time, they have grabbed quite a good lot of funding. Quite enough reasons to be interested in them! No?

GumGum
This is a digital marketing platform that uses a new image recognition technology to display ads. It was founded in 2007. Not exactly a startup but then it’s too confusing to see how to categorize start-ups. They have raised $30 million and are growing at quite a healthy rate. They’re backed by investors like Morgan Stanley, Upfront Ventures, CrossCut Ventures and a few more.

Ring
They have introduced a smart doorbell where you can see who’s at the door through your smartphone. Founded in 2011, this has got $39M of equity funding to date. According to CNET, the technology isn’t that unique, but the startup is still going superbly allowing homeowners to enjoy better security features for their homes.

Clutter
Founded in 2013, this on-demand storage startup allows you to get rid of the clutter from your house. They provide you storage space so that you can create some space in your home without actually getting rid of the stuff. They pick up the stuff right from your doorstep, ship and store it and then help retrieve it whenever you want it back. Pretty convenient! It does seem similar to this London Startup we recently featured and probably that’s why it’s in our list of LA start-ups we’re crushing over.
Considering the years they have been in existence, a lot of you will say these aren’t really ‘startups’. That’s why we are going to end this post with this piece by Forbes on what is a startup. Like really?
We’re sure this will clear a lot of doubt in your mind and convince you to spare us from the hate of not researching enough
